The HPM Congress August 10th-12th @ The Sofitel Melbourne
The HPM congress was hosted recently at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne with international guest speakers from The US, The UK and New Zealand. It was thoroughly pleasing to listen to various presentations, some of which were more evidence based & research data while others were practical case studies that focused on how to effectively engage employees to benefit from health and wellness programs offered. There are three crucial factors that need to exist for essential HPM. Firstly, identifying the crucial health issues associated with lost productivity, secondly how to best implement programs to reduce chronic disease and minimise health risk factors. The third and most difficult task is simply measuring the improvements in health and the resulting gains in company success & productivity.  The continually reinforced message of the congress was the overwhelming view that a culture of health and productivity needs to exist within a company from top to bottom and vice versa for HPM to be a valuable business strategy where employers fetch a positive return on their healthy investment.
